The event will promote the utilization of doula support services among pregnant women of color residing in Southeast Queens, New York. The goal of the event is to address health and racial disparities impacting birth outcomes in communities of color by informing women of color and their partners about the role of a doula as a member of the prenatal and postpartum support team. We aim to minimize barriers to accessing doula support services to reduce the likelihood of premature and adverse birth outcomes for both mother and baby, as well as C-section births which are not deemed medically necessary.
